Safety Glazing in Hazardous Locations | 2018 IRC and IBC

Online Training Course

Earn continuing education hours anytime, anywhere! BPI, in conjunction with Utah State University, offers a new 3-hour online training course. In this course, instructor Russell Thornburg discusses the complex code requirements for glazing in hazardous locations, as outlined by the IBC and IRC. Course is applicable to contractors, building inspectors, plan examiners, architects, and design professionals.

This is only a video snippet. To access the full online video training course, register below.

Did you know that prior to the 1960s, building codes did not address safety glazing! One of the greatest potential sources for injuries (and the resulting lawsuits) in the built environment is glass subject to human impact loads! This prompted the National Safety Council to form the National Glazing Association and together they worked to form a standard for impact resistance glass.

This course examines in detail the increasingly complex requirements from the IBC and IRC for glazing in hazardous locations. Information provided will allow participants to make informed, code conforming decisions about this critical area of construction projects, including code requirements and exceptions.
